It was a great run for the New England Patriots, and they had a chance to make history, and we all know it didn't happen. However, I lost a little respect for Bill Belichick yesterday night.
Belichick ended up leaving the field with a second left on the clock. Granted, both teams decided to storm the field to offer congratulations and whatnot before the game was officially over, including Belichick, but when both teams were ushered back to their sides of the field while the game was finished, Belichick decided to leave the field with time still on the clock.
He couldn't even find it in himself to get back on the field and offer his congratulations to Giants coach Tom Coughlin before leaving the field.
I understand his team just lost the Superbowl, and a chance to make history, but that's no reason to just leave the field. He could have put aside his disappointment/anger for one second to show some class, and at least hang his head high knowing his team still put together one of the greatest seasons of all time.
